Vodacom, the South African arm of Vodafone, commissioned us to make some some really interesting Facebook applications as part of a strategy to increase engagement and extend the reach of their Facebook page.
Videowars is music request TV for the Facebook generation. At any time, four music videos go head to head in a live all-out war for television domination, vying for votes to see which one is going to be played next. Users can vote for their favourite video, send in messages to be displayed on TV and also communicate with each other. The winners also get their Facebook profile picture on TV, which has proved hugely popular!
The app works both as a custom tab on the Facebook page and from a Facebook Connect-enabled page on Channel O’s website, both of which are accessible from mobile too.
