Black Page (The Sancho Plan)

Black Page is an animated short film, that tells the story of a wanderer in a strange land, whose pathway home can only be opened by a strange guardian. Created as part of an ongoing collaboration between Do Tank and cross-media musicians The Sancho Plan, Black Page is an animated short with a difference: it is performed live. Using Do Tank’s animation synchronisation engine, the animated characters are controlled by the onstage band as they create the soundtrack for the story.

Pilot

Pilot is an iPhone application for anyone who’s ever regretted getting rid of their model plane collection. Users can choose from RAF, USAF, Luftwaffe and IJAF (Japanese) airforces to pick an associated plane such as the Spitfire, and – for extra realism – download free wings from a website to attach to the iPhone. Users can then ‘fly’ the phone around the room, dropping bombs and firing guns, while the phone provides the nnnnnnnnNNNNNNNEEEEEEEAAAAAWWWWW BOOM BOOM AKAKAKAKAKAKAK sound effects you always wanted as a kid.

Lifelines

Lifelines is a simple iPhone application that plays quotes from history’s most famous, such as Winston Churchill and Muhammed Ali. When a quote is played, the application pulls background information in from Wikipedia, so users can read more about the character’s life and impact on the world.

Sollatek is an animated 3D style online football game, where players have to score as many free kicks as possible. Players set the direction, pitch and strength of the shot, and then find out if their free kick will make it past the goalkeeper.

X Factor Facebook App

For the 2009 X Factor series, Do Tank created a Facebook application that lets X Factor fans keep talking about X Factor between shows. Fans use the application to declare support for a contestant, see who their friends support and ‘heckle’ or show solidarity with others over their choice of favourite. A countdown to the end of a voting period or the next show helps keep excitement high.

ITV Benidorm Facebook App

For series 3 of ITV’s comedy series Benidorm, Do Tank created a Facebook application themed around the Benidorm character Madge – an old, wrinkled woman with a permatan the colour of stewed tea. The app lets users upload a picture of themselves or a friend, and ‘Madge-ify’ the face, adding wrinkles and a tan, and send it to friends.

We are really pleased to announce the release this week of “Net-App” a dedicated iPhone application for net-a-porter.com. The app was launched with a special Q&A at the London Apple Store between Natalie Massenet, the future thinking founder of net-a-porter and leading fashion designer Roland Mouret.

Net-app is a fully featured iPhone & iPod Touch app updates twice a week with the very latest women’s fashions. It provides full integration with the user’s wishlist and shopping basket, so shopping (with full purchase path) at net-a-porter.com is now really easy when on the move. In addition to the latest fashions, the app also provides a weekly magazine to highlight the latest trends, designers and must-have fashions. Both Portrait and Landscape modes are supported, with Landscape showing a bespoke implementation of Apple’s Coverflow, dubbed ‘ClosetFlow’.

Apple have been really supportive, featuring the app on the homepage of the App Store across all territories, as well as hosting the launch at the Regents Street Apple Store in London.

Save the Children UK launches Facebook Application

Save the Children UK approached Do Tank Studios about creating a Facebook application. Children are affected by crisis and conflicts all around the world. Save the Children UK work to help children affected by crisis everyday. Do Tank Studios designed and developed a Facebook application and then seeded this application to friends and non-profit groups.

People are asked to set their status, post the STC profile box on their wall and do their part to help where they can. Users see the notification updates and they can decide whether or not to accept the updates.

Mudlark

Mudlark revamps their website

Mudlark, a corporate gaming company, needed to update the look, feel and structure of their site. Do Tank Studios examined the visual identity to determine the tone and approach. This means that the logo and the website design direction needed to be fully realized. After working through some design interations, Do Tank Studios and Mudlark were able to put forth a much more engaging, clean and social media accessability point for their clients. Clients can see their corporate tweets as well as tweets from each person in mudlark. Their clients can also choose to view their work on flickr.

Visitors and/or potential clients will be able to see the types of gaming projects that they do. Visitors can also see who Mudlark are, read more about them, see whether they are hiring and ways of getting in touch.

The Sancho Plan – Jungle Imperator

Jungle Imperator is a new breed of interactive musical experience. Built for the new Ars Electronica Centre in Linz, Austria, it has been especially crafted to take advantage of the latest immersive technologies, including Ultra HD resolution imagery on the wall and floors, incredible quality surround audio and the latest in stereoscopic 3D.

Combining music provided by Vienna-based musicians Tosca (Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber) with rich surrealist imagery inspired by Max Ernst, Jungle Imperator is an interactive visual and musical experience in which you control a cast of animated musical characters.
